Make an ant walk-behind tractor from a scooter. How to make a homemade gearbox for a walk-behind tractor, photos and drawings. Blocking the wheels of a walk-behind tractor with an engine from a motorcycle

Today, the Ant walk-behind tractor can be quite a serious branded factory-assembled unit. With it, you can perform various agricultural work on the plot, avoiding long and exhausting manual labor. At the same time, its weight is less than 100 kg, which allows you to transport the device in the trunk. passenger car. Its dimensions are quite compact, it does not require special storage conditions, easily fitting both in a utility room and in a residential apartment in a city high-rise building. However, since the price for it starts at 25 thousand rubles, there is a clear sense in making such a walk-behind tractor with your own hands from an old scooter. Especially popular are home-made walk-behind tractors with an engine and a gearbox from the Ant scooter, which, in their characteristics, are close to similar parts of a factory-assembled walk-behind tractor.

Branded walk-behind tractor "Ant" factory assembled

It is produced by domestic industry at agricultural engineering enterprises. It is a gasoline engine on a two-wheeled platform, capable of both rotating the wheels of the undercarriage and driving the cutters for tillage. "Ant" is able to process hard and virgin soil. In addition to milling cutters, it is possible to install a plow or hiller on it. The engine is a four-stroke petrol engine with a capacity of 7 horsepower. This allows you to plow the soil to a depth of 30 cm. fuel tank fits up to 3.6 liters of gasoline, crankcase volume 0.6 liters.

The transmission is a belt drive and chain reducer with cast iron pulley. Forward speeds can be switched, reverse movement provides only one speed. The engine has a manual start system. The walk-behind tractor can provide a plowed strip width of up to 80 cm. The steering column can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally. The result is a fairly powerful and easy-to-use device. The only drawback can be considered a relatively high cost, which makes most owners of cottages and plots prefer to make their own analogue. A home-made walk-behind tractor will cost several times cheaper, and the consumer qualities of the mechanism will differ little from its factory-assembled counterpart.

Stages of assembling a walk-behind tractor from a scooter

In order to assemble a walk-behind tractor from a scooter, you need to disassemble it yourself vehicle into constituent parts. First of all, you need an engine, which must first be sorted out and put in order. Then, a support frame is welded from a steel sheet with a thickness of about 4 mm and iron water pipes with a diameter of 40 mm, on which the engine is rigidly mounted on three supports. After that, a carburetor, magneto, air filter and silencer are installed on the frame. To prevent the engine from overheating, a cover must be mounted above it, capable of providing forced cooling.

For a walk-behind tractor from the "Ant", wheels from a scooter may come in handy. They are wide enough to provide good grip on the ground. The chain drive is made using a drive that connects the engine to flanged shafts that can be removed from the old combine. The selection of gears can provide excellent shaft speed, but the lower case on the frame must be carefully calculated so that the frame reaches the ground. The control is carried out using a metal telescopic tube, which can be taken from a broken vacuum cleaner, which will allow you to adjust the height. The gearbox has three positions, but only first gear will work. Manual control of the carburetor damper.

The development of a walk-behind tractor into more complex home-made devices

A home-made walk-behind tractor can serve as the basis for various more complex units that can be used not only for cultivating the soil. On the basis of homemade products from the Ant scooter, you can make a mini tractor, snow blower, towing vehicle or other mechanized device. Especially popular is the manufacture of a tractor from Ant. To do this, a steel bar from a channel or beam is attached to the frame of the walk-behind tractor under the engine. Then a sprung two-wheeled bogie with a seat at the top is made. The springs can be removed from the same scooter.

Under the cart with the seat, the same bar is welded to the frame, which is connected to the bar of the walk-behind tractor with an overhead coupling with bolted connections. This allows such a tractor from the "Ant" to tow quite serious loads. A metal bar will allow you to distribute the force over the entire tractor frame. There is a full opportunity for the manufacture of a trailer for a walk-behind tractor from Ant. 4 wheels on springs are mounted on a frame made of steel beams, and a rectangular platform made of boards or sheet metal with folding sides is mounted on top. On the front side, instead of a tailgate, a driver's seat can be installed.

You can make quite a lot of various homemade products from the "Ant". It depends primarily on technical literacy and skills in working with metal and mechanisms. In addition to the old scooter, a variety of parts and mechanisms can be used, otherwise inevitably sent to scrap metal.

Such home-made devices can radically facilitate a person's work in a personal or summer cottage.

Their main advantage, in addition to a fairly low cost, is that they can be adapted as much as possible to the specific needs of the owner.

Now the development of agricultural machinery has reached the best development. It is hard to imagine a modern farmer without a cultivator or walk-behind tractor.

For convenient and comfortable use of the walk-behind tractor, it is made from an old scooter Ant. On such equipment it will be comfortable to move around the cultivated area, transport the fed collection, humus, agricultural tools, even firewood, garbage and everything else.

First of all, you need to find an old scooter and decide what size areas will be processed. This affects the power of the motor block. An Ant scooter with an engine from a walk-behind tractor is converted into a real walk-behind tractor according to the standard classical scheme:

  1. Frame.
  2. Engine.
  3. Chassis based on 2 wheels.

2.2 Features

Motoblock Ant-1 is one of the most popular motoblocks, equipped with a four-stroke powerful gasoline engine. The change in speed occurs smoothly without jerks using the speed control lever, which is located under the thumb of the right hand.

When plowing or cultivating, trampling of the cultivated soil is excluded due to the rotation of the handle in a horizontal plane. The rubber of the wheels has a wide tread, which provides better grip on the ground. The work of the operator is ensured by safety thanks to two protective wings.

Ant-2 has the same characteristics and features as the Ant-1 walk-behind tractor. If you have enough funds, you can purchase a ready-made walk-behind tractor in a specialized store. But with a limited budget, you can assemble a walk-behind tractor from old scrap metal and spare parts with your own hands.

Unfortunately, we have to admit that ready-made cultivators and walk-behind tractors, which are presented in our stores, are designed for not very high productivity - for summer cottages of 6 acres.

There are decent industrial ones, but their prices bite. But what about those who have these acres of almost 20? The idea to make such a walk-behind tractor came suddenly, and not to me, but to a neighbor - an artist. He came up with it, and I've finished it.

How to make a walk-behind tractor with your own hands

Work began with the "Ant", or rather the engine from the T-200 scooter. To start, let's go through. Then we make a frame - we weld an iron sheet 4 mm thick with pipes 4 cm in diameter. The frame is fixed rigidly with three supports to the engine.

The next step in the assembly was the installation of a carburetor, magneto, air filter, muffler. In order to protect the engine from overheating, I had to come up with a cover for forced cooling on top.

The chain drive was made by the drive from the engine to the shafts with flanges (they came from a conventional combine). The important point is that the rotational speed of the shafts can be excellent with the right selection of gears, but you still need to carefully calculate the size of the lower crankcase on the frame. If you get carried away with one frequency, the frame will simply go on top and will not reach the ground. Gear ratio motor-reducer 4:1, in gear 2.5:1

Inside, everything should be lubricated with oil - for this, drain and bay hatches are made.

As a steering wheel - an ordinary metal pipe (to adjust the height, you can take a telescopic pipe from an old vacuum cleaner). The unit works in first gear, although there are already three gearboxes. The carburetor choke is operated manually. Ahead of the walk-behind tractor is a wheel, how deep the soil needs to be plowed depends on its installation, and it’s not particularly difficult to manage. The weight of the structure turned out to be decent - a little less than 90 kg.

All motoblock units are based on one frame. Frame design: two spars, the front and rear ends of which are bent up, and the front ends are also opposite and connected by welding. To the rear ends, also by welding, a design from the Izh motorcycle is attached - a steering wheel with control levers. The material of the spars is a steel water pipe (an inch and a quarter).

Do-it-yourself frame drawing of a walk-behind tractor

Motoblock frame: 1 - steering wheel (from the Izh motorcycle); 2 - bracket for fastening the instrument panel (corner 25 × 25); 3 - platform and battery mounting bracket; 4 - frame spar (pipe with a diameter of 32); 5 - crankcase chain drive second stage; 6 - subframe; 7 - first stage power transmission chain tensioner (M10 bolt); 8 - emphasis of the chain tensioner; 9 - strut (pipe with a diameter of 22); 10 - bracket for attaching a cultivator subframe (milled channel No. 8); 11 - bracket for attaching a transport trolley; 12-crossbar (strip 30x4.3 pcs.)

The spars are connected along the length by several crossbars. The front of them is a stop for the chain tensioner of the 1st transmission stage. Some parts of the walk-behind tractor also serve as crossbars - for example, a platform for a battery.

One of the frame components, the gearbox housing, also serves as a stand between the power unit and the chassis. A cultivator subframe or a two-axle trolley for transporting goods can be hooked to the lower rear of the crankcase.

Motoblock engine

In the design, I used a two-stroke gasoline 13-horsepower motor of the cargo scooter "Ant" has forced air cooling. This is an indisputable plus in a situation of inevitable overheating of the motor due to low speed. The four-speed gearbox is interlocked with the engine, the muffler is homemade: a steel pipe filled with metal shavings (pipe length 250 mm, diameter 70 mm, exhaust port 16 mm). The exhaust tract has a complex shape, due to the layout of the walk-behind tractor and the fact that the exhaust must be to the side.

The frame on which the engine is located is a skid, to the cross members of which an arc from a water pipe (d = 42 mm) is welded. Brackets-brackets are welded to the arc in the center and at the ends.

Underframe

1 - slide skid (corner 40 × 40, 2 pcs.); 2- rear cross member; 3 - ridge (steel pipe 1 1/4 "); 4-bracket-bracket (StZ, strip 50×4, 3 pcs.); 5 - middle cross member: 6 - front cross member; 7 - traverse (corner 32×32); details 2,5,6 are made of steel strip 40×4

In place, along the holes in the ears on the engine crankcase, holes were drilled in the brackets for M8 bolts, after which the arc was installed on the spinal side and welded to the middle cross member of the slide, the extreme cross members were brought under the arc, bent, and their middle was also knocked out in place so that the crossbars are in contact with the arc over their entire width. Then the arc was attached to the crossbars by welding along the lines of contact, and the ends of the crossbars were welded to the guide rails, made from an equal-shelf 40 mm steel angle.

Engine Dimensions and Mounting Points

In the center of the vertical flange of the traverse, welded from above to the front ends of the guides, a hole for the bolt was drilled. The bolt (M10) also enters the front cross member of the frame and is designed to adjust the chain tension from the 1st stage of the gearbox. The sled moves along the spars in the longitudinal grooves (there are four of them, two in each skid). The subframe is mounted on the main frame through the grooves with four M10 bolts.

chain reducer

The two-stage chain reducer is designed to reduce the rotation speed and increase the torque transmitted from the output shaft of the power unit to the wheels or rippers.

Chain reducer drawing

1 - body (channel No. 20); 2 - cover (StZ, sheet s5); 3 - gasket (oil-resistant rubber) 4 - drive sprocket of the second stage (z = 11, t = 19.05); 5-key; 6 - bearing 206 (2 pcs.); 7- compensation sleeve; 8 - shaft; 9 - nut M22x1.5 with a spring washer; 10 - stuffing box; 11 - remote bushing with keyway; 12-eccentric bearing housing (St3, 2 pcs.); 13 - M8 screw with spring washer (30 pcs.); 14 - driven sprocket of the second stage (z = 25, t = 19.05); 15- bearing 3008 (2 pcs.); 16 - bearing housing; 17 - sealing sleeve; 18 - left axle shaft; 19-oil drain plug (M10 screw); 20 - bottom of the body (StZ, sheet s4); 21 - oil filler plug (Ml0 screw); 22.23 - oil seals (2 pcs.); 24 - right axle shaft; 25 - fixing screws M6 (8 pcs.); 26 - M8 bolt; 27 - chain t = 19.05; 28 - driven sprocket of the first stage (z = 57, t = 12.7); 29 - remote bushing

The 1st stage of the gearbox consists of two sprockets (17 and 57 teeth with a pitch of 12.75 mm). The drive sprocket (17 teeth) is mounted on the output shaft of the power unit, the driven one - on the outer flange of the input shaft of the 2nd stage. 2nd gear stage - reinforced (11-tooth drive sprocket, 25-tooth driven sprocket, tooth pitch 19.05 mm). Since this stage is close to the cultivated soil during the operation of the walk-behind tractor, it is placed in a closed crankcase to protect it from dust, welded directly to the crossbars and to the spars through steel spacers.

A strut is welded between the crankcase and the cross member for reliability. The crankcase is welded from two channels No. 2 with shelves reduced in length to 35 mm. In the lower part, the shape of the walls of the channels is a semicircle, instead of the shelves that are cut off, the bottom is welded from a 4-mm steel sheet, curved in the form of a semi-cylinder along the walls of the channels. From above, the crankcase is closed by a cover with a gasket made of oil-resistant rubber.

Both walls have two coaxial holes for bearing housings (d = 100 mm). Each of these holes is flanked by six other threaded holes (M8) for attaching the housings to the crankcase. The lower bearings (that is, the axle shaft bearings) have conventional housings, the upper ones (shaft bearings) have eccentric ones. By turning them around the axis (at least 15 °), the chain tension of the 2nd stage of the gearbox is adjusted in steps.

The shaft of this gear stage is mounted in two ball bearings 206. The drive sprocket is fixed with two spacer bushings between the inner walls of the crankcase, exactly in the middle, and is connected to the shaft with a parallel key. A large driven sprocket sits on the centering boss of the right axle shaft and is fixed with six M8 bolts between the opposite flanges of the axle shafts. Its lower teeth, along with the chain links on them, are constantly immersed in oil. During the operation of the walk-behind tractor, the oil is transferred by the chain to the upper part of the crankcase - thus, the rubbing parts of the 2nd stage are lubricated. Oil seals in the bearing housings protect against leakage of oil to the outside. The rigid flange connection of the axle shafts forms a single shaft placed in two 308 ball bearings.

Homemade wheels

Through the slotted cuts at the ends of the axle shafts, the torque is transmitted to the rippers or to the wheels. The rippers are homemade, the wheels with 5-10″ tires are borrowed from the SMZ motorized stroller. To improve wheel traction in winter time or when cultivating the soil, a homemade bandage is put on the tires from a steel strip with a section of 90 x 5 mm with lugs from an equal-shelf 25 mm angle.

Homemade lugs

Collapsible bandage with lugs: 1 - bandage semi-ring (steel strip 60 × 5.2 pieces); 2 - hinge loop; 3 - locking lug; 4 - transverse grouser (corner 25 × 25, 11 pcs.); 5 - diagonal grouser (corner shelf, 12 pcs.); 6 - M8 bolt of the locking device (2 pcs.); 7 - reciprocal half of the locking device (corner 25 × 25)

The slipping of the bandage from the tire is prevented by the antennae on the lugs with parts of the vertical shelves cut off on their sides. The antennae are bent inside the bandage hoop, and the cut parts of the shelves are welded to the hoop obliquely between the corners. The bandage hoop is composite: its two halves are connected by a hinge on one side and a locking device on the other (a similar locking device is used on the cover of the gearbox housing). It is convenient to mount such a hoop on tires.

Cultivators (one, two or three legs) are mounted on a T-shaped composite subframe made of a 60 x 40 mm rectangular tube. The traverse can be detached. These parts are factory-made, they are picked up at the dump of agricultural machinery. In the front part of the subframe, a coupling device from channel No. 6.5 is welded.

Cultivator subframe

1 - traverse; 2 - bracket (2 pcs.); 3 - M12 bolt (3 pcs.); 4 - flange for fastening the traverse (corner 30 × 30.2 pcs.); 5 - bolt M8 (4 tt.); 6 - ridge; 7 - coupling device (channel No. 6.5); 8- M8 bolt for fastening the subframe (2 pcs.); 9- counterpart of the coupling device (milled channel No. 8: the size between the shelves is 65 mm); 10 - an earring for attaching a trolley; 11 - gearbox housing; 12 - king pin (pipe diameter 22 with M22 thread and M22 nut); parts 1,2,6 are made of steel rectangular pipe 60×40; a - three rectangular holes for racks of cultivator legs (dimensions in place)

For connection, the subframe is inserted into the bracket on the frame (gear housing). Bracket material - channel No. 8 with shelves milled so that there is 66 mm between them. The subframe and bracket are connected with M8 bolts.

The use of a walk-behind tractor paired with a single-share plow (also home-made) had to be abandoned, so it was difficult to work with such a kit, and things progressed slowly. The role of a homemade plow for tillage is performed by two rippers (two cutters, that is, several knives with cutters) installed in place of the wheels.

Rippers

Assembly elements of the ripper: a - slotted sleeve with four flanges and end washer; b - knife with a cutter (16 pcs.)

The cutters are fixed with M8 bolts on flanges mounted on the bushing and welded to it. The diameter of the splined part of the axle shaft is slightly smaller than the diameter of the bushing. The material of the knives is a steel strip 50 x 60 mm, the cutters are from a decommissioned mower. For loosening the soil, one or two paws are installed in the cultivator subframe, which create a braking moment. In this case, during rotation, the rippers slip, go deep into the soil and finely crush it. By varying the number of paws and varying degrees of their deepening, you can adjust the braking torque. If it is adjusted, the walk-behind tractor moves evenly forward by itself and is easy to control. When handling ups and downs, you will have to adjust the braking torque manually, with an effort on the steering wheel, plunging the blades deeper or shallower into the soil. The depth of processing with rippers, like with a conventional shovel, is about 20 centimeters. The soil after loosening is soft, even, and does not need to be harrowed.

Homemade trailer

As mentioned above, the walk-behind tractor can be converted into a vehicle for cargo transportation, with a two-wheeled semi-trailer trolley. It turned out to be very easy to make a trailer for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands. Chassis of the cart - front axle motorized carriages SMZ assembled (with wheels). The main frame is two spars with two crossbars made of steel pipe, in the section of which a rectangle is 60 x 30 mm. In the front part, where the side members converge, is the seat.

The drawbar of the cart is stepped so that the hitch is closer to the axle of the wheels. The result is handling that is as easy as articulated-frame designs. Half-inch tube struts are designed to reinforce drawbar steps. Footboards are welded to it from below. The design of the hitch is relatively simple: like a swivel, so that you can turn on uneven roads or slopes, about a horizontal longitudinal axis.

In the upper part of the main frame there is a frame that borders the cargo platform, from an equal-shelf 35 mm steel angle. Additional connections were created to strengthen the structure: the bogie frame is connected to the bridge levers through racks reinforced with struts (racks from the same pipe as the frame). The frame-edging of the platform is lined with a grooved board 25 mm thick. In further author's developments, removable or folding sides are provided.

The electrical equipment of the walk-behind tractor is designed for a voltage of 12 V: a regular ignition coil, two 9MT-14 batteries, a starter, a 90 W generator, and a car headlight.

If you decide to make a home-made walk-behind tractor from a motorcycle engine, the main condition is to make the most of the used motor equipment components, redoing them as little as possible. This will require some experience and accumulated knowledge, with a large supply of patience and work. The result of the summed up work will be a reliable farm machine, adapted to almost any conditions. If a malfunction occurs, the repair will be the replacement of a broken part, or a failed assembly.

For example, if we take a sub-frame or a power unit: they are manufactured at the factory. If we consider the reducer-adapter, it is taken from the main gear of the motorized carriage.

We make a homemade walk-behind tractor from a motorcycle engine

For the successful operation of the walk-behind tractor, a multi-stage kinematic transmission scheme was developed, which increases the accessory ratio, as well as tractive effort and torque. Together with the reducer, the adapter in the kinematic diagram provides main gearbox. When combining the gearbox with a wheel pair and final drive, a highly efficient propulsion unit is obtained.

A special mechanism tensions the drive chains. It is attached with studs to the sliders, which are made of a steel corner. The latter are also able to move by tightening or loosening the drive chain. For this purpose, grooves are provided in the sliders and there are two adjusting screws and M10 mounting bolts.

The most time-consuming design is the main gearbox. It is made from pre-prepared steel plates (10 mm). Reinforcement discs are placed at the bearing installation site. Welds are solid to prevent oil leakage. A bracket-bracket is welded onto the rear wall of the gearbox, which allows you to mount a cargo trolley or a trailed agricultural implement. If you use a cargo trolley, then the walk-behind tractor becomes a mini tractor.

A steel plate (5 mm) is used to make the gearbox cover. It is attached to the body with M6 screws. Cylindrical spur gears and shafts are taken from agricultural machines. It must be remembered that the purpose of the intermediate shaft is power take-off, so it is better to make new shafts than to use old ones. The differential of the main gearbox on the walk-behind tractor was part of a decommissioned electric car.

Blocking the wheels of a walk-behind tractor with an engine from a motorcycle

Wheel lock - necessary technical solution for a walk-behind tractor, from a design point of view. On the right axle shaft, where the splined end is, a cylindrical neck is machined, which should be slightly deeper than the splined groove. A threaded hole is made from the opposite end of the axle shaft.

When the M12 adjusting screw rotates, the axle shaft is shifted due to the action of the coil spring. Further inside the differential, the axle shaft moves away from engagement with the “native” gear and engages with the adjacent one, which blocks the wheels.

The impellers of the walk-behind tractor are made from the wheels of a decommissioned electric car. For each disc, 16 grooves are cut in the rim, and steel plates are welded in, which will serve as the basis for the lugs. After that, jumpers are welded to them, and the rims of arable wheels are obtained.

Plow for motoblock

The unit that regulates the entry of the plow into the soil is very effectively made. It consists of a welded U-shaped body, with mounting and restrictive ledges. The heel of the plow cooler is inserted into them, which is able to rotate in a vertical plane using a bushing-axial hinge. The required angle of rotation is set with an M16 pin. A channel beam is welded to the pivoting heel. Thanks to a small turn in the direction where the soil falls off the plow, it becomes possible correct installation the last one.

The cutting knife is also attached to the bed. In order to install it at the right angle to the ground and to the required value, a standard clamp with a plate-plate and two M12 bolts with nuts is used. An auxiliary wheel is placed in front of the walk-behind tractor on a V-shaped bracket. Its purpose is to ensure ease during transportation, or when moving the walk-behind tractor backwards.

The walk-behind tractor is controlled by two rods from a mower with handles. Also for this, the reverse and speed switch knobs are used.

The performance of the walk-behind tractor is three to five acres of land per hour. Ordinary land can be plowed in second gear. For heavy soils work on first.

How to make a do-it-yourself walk-behind tractor from a planet engine

The scheme for creating this walk-behind tractor is perfect for Voskhod, Minsk, Ant engines. The engine from IZH Planet -3 proved to be the best. To make a walk-behind tractor with your own hands from the planet's engine, you need to make small design changes.

Engine cooling is forced, connected through the ignition - to the coil. Engine power 18 hp Thanks to the installed gearbox, there is a reverse gear.

Transport speed - up to 70 km / h. The minimum speed is 5-6 km/h. The trolley is made from two old tarsion-type wheelchairs, and can withstand weights up to 500 kg.

A frame is welded to the channel. When modeling a walk-behind tractor, it is necessary to take into account the engine mount, so we offset the longitudinal axis of the gearbox by 10 mm relative to the engine axis. The engine can be mounted in different ways. To increase engine power, an additional shaft cuts into the channel.

After that we place the fuel tank. Upon completion of the assembly, we give the walk-behind tractor a beautiful appearance, having painted.

This walk-behind tractor is capable of driving 50-70 km per day. On asphalt, you can keep the speed of 50-60 km / h. You can use it as a vehicle, and as a walk-behind tractor.
